Boca Raton: If you’re from New York or Jersey and are looking for authentic pizza that will make you feel like you’re back home, this is your go-to place. Owner, Joe Chiapetta’s pizzeria may be just a hole in the wall but his fresh, hand tossed pies are as authentic as they get. The “Joe’s Original,” an NY-style cheese pizza with thin crust and the “Nana’s Sicilian,” a deep dish of gooey goodness, are perennial favorites. But if you’re looking for something that’s really over the top, order the “Long Island Sicilian.” Made only on Thursdays, this large square, thick crust monster is lightly sauced, topped with sliced mozzarella and then layered with more sauce. Palm Beach Gardens: Palm Beach Gardens: Admittedly, there are a lot of great burgers in the Palm Beaches but this Gardens’ hot spot really raises the bar. Executive Chef Adam Brown tricks out his big, beefy 8 oz “butchers blend” patty with aged Vermont cheddar, secret sauce, lettuce tomato, pickles and nestles it on a griddled challah bun. For an extra couple of bucks, you can top it all off with a fried egg or avocado. If you really want to step out of the box, go for the BBQ Bison Burger. This signature blend of grass-fed bison and beef is topped with manchego, crispy onions, ancho-bourbon bbq sauce, spicy arugula and sliced tomato on a whole wheat kaiser bun. Sweet!

Boca Raton: Baking is a true labor of love at this authentic family owned Italian artisan bakery that whips up about 40 different items, many of which, are gluten-free. In addition to an array of sweet temptations like tiramisu and cannoli rum cake, lemon drop anisette cookies and cuccidato (fig cookies), owner/baker Giovanna Cimino has developed a line of savory biscotti including spinach and parmesan and Kalamata olives and pistachios.
